Frenectomy
There is a muscle that connects the inner lip to the gums. This is called a frenum. There is also a frenum connecting the tongue to the gum behind your lower front teeth. Sometimes this muscle is quite prominent and needs to be removed when:
- It causes the gum to pull away from the tooth
- It contributes to recession of the gums
- It affects the speech of the patient
- It keeps the two front teeth from moving closer together
Dr Elly Yassa can help identify these problems and advise you if a frenectomy will benefit your oral health.
